AMCAL Family Services recognizes that these are difficult times for parents and their children. As a grass roots community based not-for-profit, AMCAL is attune to the needs and concerns of families.

For over 25 years, AMCAL Family Services has provided services and programs to address the needs of families and advocated for services that were non-existent in the community.

AMCAL’s group of professionals provide a caring and supportive environment for families in a time of crisis. AMCAL’s goal is to intervene and assist families so they can remain together and work on their issues during difficult times. AMCAL’s unique community residence provides a home-like atmosphere for up to eight adolescents and respite for their families during those trying times. Through family counseling, parents support groups and skill building groups for the teens, family’s experience a sense of hope. More recently, AMCAL has developed school-based programs in the areas of anger management, bullying prevention and training and workshops for teachers, administrators and parents.

With government cutbacks and a lack of resources for families, AMCAL has played a key and vital role in the lives of families with children. AMCAL’s vision is to be the primary West Island resource for families experiencing difficulty with their children.
